5 Tips To Stay Hydrated & Energized During The Summer

Summer–our favorite season. From afternoons spent poolside to family barbecues, we couldn’t be more excited for the brighter skies and adventures that await!

However, with the sun blazing overhead and temperatures creeping to triple-digits, the last thing we want is to fall prey to overheating and fatigue.

Here are five tips to help you stay cool, comfortable, and healthy this summer! Whether it’s staying indoors to craft a cool mocktail or swapping out elements from your daily routine, we’ve got you covered.

Five hacks for staying cool this summer:

1) Hydrate smarter, not harder

Water is essential for maintaining bodily functions like temperature regulation, digestion, and nutrient transport. When it's time to replenish those vital nutrients, consider opting for an electrolyte pack. Enter Cymbiotika’s Pure Hydration, a powerhouse blend packed with essential vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and amino acids. This refreshing formula ensures your body stays hydrated, cool, and energized all summer long.

Sip into summer:

✓ Increases Cellular Hydration

✓ Replenishes Electrolytes

✓ Speeds Up Recovery

2) Dress lighter

Choosing the right clothing during summer can make a world of a difference. Opt for lightweight and breathable fabrics like cotton and linen, which allow airflow and moisture absorption to prevent overheating and excessive sweating. Look for moisture-wicking properties to keep you dry and comfortable, and consider wearing light-colored, loose-fitting styles for added ventilation and sun protection.

3) Swap your long workout with a quick HIIT routine

We love outdoor runs, strength training, and hikes–just not when it’s blazing hot outside. Try a quick but effective HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) routine to boost your endorphins without overheating your body. These workouts typically consist of short bursts of intense exercise followed by brief periods of rest or lower-intensity activity. Here's a simple example of a quick HIIT workout:

Note: Perform each exercise for 20-30 seconds, followed by 10-20 seconds of rest or active recovery. Repeat the circuit for a total of 3-4 rounds.

  1. Warm-up (5 minutes): Start with a light cardio warm-up, such as jogging in place, jumping jacks, or dynamic stretches.
  2. HIIT Circuit (20 minutes):

Jump Squats AMRAP (as many reps as possible): Do squat jumps, explosively pushing off the ground as you jump into the air.

Push-Ups: Lower your body to the ground by bending your elbows, then push back up to the starting position.

Burpees: Start in a standing position, then squat down and place your hands on the ground. Jump your feet back into a plank position, perform a push-up, jump back towards your hands, and explode into a jump.

Mountain Climbers: Get into a plank position and quickly alternate, bringing your knees towards your chest as if running in place.

High Knees: Stand in place and rapidly alternate, lifting your knees towards your chest as high as possible.

Cool Down (5 minutes): Finish with a cooldown to bring your heart rate down. This could include static stretches for major muscle groups, such as hamstring stretches, quad stretches, and shoulder stretches.

Remember to listen to your body and modify exercises to suit your fitness level and any physical limitations.

4) Spend the day in cool water

We encourage you to embrace the outdoors and connect with nature rather than staying indoors all day. If you're close to a body of water like the beach, pool, or lake, seize the opportunity to bask in the summer sun. Remember to pack your swimsuit, Cymbiotika Pure Hydration, and sunscreen!

5) Make light and refreshing recipes

No one wants to spend the day cooped up inside preparing food over a hot stove. Rather than cook hot and heavy meals, opt for light and cooling recipes–think crunchy veggies, citrusy sauces, or refreshing herbs like mint. For a refreshing drink, try our Snooze No Booze Mocktail.
