Alpha-Tocopherol is the most biologically active form of Vitamin E. On labels one can tell if the alpha-tocopherol is natural or synthetic because synthetic alpha-tocopherol will have a “dl-,” prefix at the beginning. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that has the ability to neutralize free radicals and is important for immune, liver, and skin health. It can offset the effects of exposure to environmental toxins, radiation, cigarette smoke, and plays a role in regulating gene expression.
