Sebastien Lagree approaches fitness the way an inventor approaches a system: nothing is ever finished.

With multiple patents and a method practiced around the world, his work is defined by constant iteration: testing, refining, and evolving in real time. But behind the scale and success is a mindset that’s far more personal: a belief that growth, whether physical or mental, only happens when you’re willing to challenge what’s familiar.

For Lagree, discipline isn’t about repetition, it’s about adaptation. It’s about knowing when something no longer works and having the willingness to change it.

In this conversation, he shares the thinking behind his evolution-driven approach, how he stays ahead of an ever-changing industry, and why he believes fitness can ultimately shape far more than the body.

For those discovering you for the first time, how do you describe what you do, and what you’ve built in your own words?

Lagree is a living method. The method is now on its 10th “instalment.” Officially, we are launching Lagree 2 and 3.0 this year, but the method has evolved many times before then. Lagree has always been and will always be a strength and endurance workout. That has not changed. What has evolved is the focus. We are now focused on moving by integration rather than exercising by isolation. We moved from core to integrated strength which reduces the inflammation that exercise can cause.

You’ve created a method that’s become globally recognized. When you zoom out, what do you think people are really responding to?

It’s hard to say because people do Lagree for different reasons. There is definitely a shift from physical fitness to mental wellness.

When you first started building Lagree Fitness, what gap did you feel the industry wasn’t addressing?

I am the first method to address the need for a high intensity but low impact workout.

Now I am the first fitness method to address the need for integrated strength.

With numerous patents, innovation is clearly at the core of what you do. What’s your philosophy when it comes to building something that lasts versus something that trends?

Evolution is key. Can’t teach the same method to the same crowd over and over; it loses its efficacy. The method has to evolve with its clientele. 

If someone is only doing one type of workout consistently, why would you argue it should be Lagree?

Lagree is a one stop shop. It addresses all the physiological needs. It is designed and it evolves for that purpose.

What makes Lagree fundamentally different from traditional strength training or Pilates, in your eyes?

Strength training is mostly isolated and uses static tension which is not ideal on the joint and connective tissues. Strength training will change your body but possibly at the detriments of the joints and connective tissues.

Pilates is not a workout; it’s a restorative method; it lacks intensity. You will not be able to change your body doing Pilates, but Pilates is great on the joints.

Lagree solves the 2 problems listed above.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone who feels stuck in their fitness routine?

You need to change the routine. That’s the only way. Many people resist change. 

What does your own workout routine look like right now?

The routine has always been similar, but the sequences have evolved many times over the past 28 years. My sequences all use integrated movements vs concentrated moves.

What supplements are currently part of your wellness routine? 

I take a lot of supplements like CLA, B-complex, Niacin, Vitamin D3, Fish Oil, Zinc, L-Theanine, Glycine (3–5 g), Haritaki, RYR Synergy, L-Lysine, CoQ10, DHEA, Pregnenolone, Beta-sitosterol, Prostate Supreme, Silymarin Forte, Liver Support, Humic / Fulvic, etc… I am always experimenting with new supplements.

You’ve built something that’s changed how people approach fitness. What kind of impact do you hope Lagree Fitness has long-term?

My mission is to help humanity level up on a physical, mental, emotional, spiritual level.

Fitness is my religion and I believe that the proper fitness routine can be a path to spiritual awakening,  alignment, and ascension. 

What are you building toward next?

I am currently developing a new method to strengthen the mind through movement. The method will be done blindfolded using new technologies.
