With Miranda Kerr, wellness has never felt like a trend. It’s something she lives.
Motherhood, entrepreneurship, and leadership aren’t separate lanes for her, they inform each other. The same intention she brings to her home shows up in how she builds, formulates, and speaks about standards in beauty and wellbeing.
In this conversation, she shares why integrity matters more than hype, why transparency in ingredients is still overdue, and how alignment has become her true definition of success.
You’re a mother, an entrepreneur, and a public figure, how do those roles inform each other when it comes to your perspective on wellness, balance, and priorities?
I love this question because for me, these roles are not separate. They shape each other and are so interconnected.
Being a mother is what anchors everything. My boys are my greatest teachers. They remind me that presence matters more than perfection, that the energy in the home sets the tone for everything, and that wellness starts with how safe and loved they feel. Motherhood has made me more intentional about my time, my nervous system, and the example I set. If I am calm, grounded, and nourished, they feel that.
As an entrepreneur, especially building KORA Organics, I see wellness through the lens of responsibility and integrity. It is deeply important to me that what we create is results driven and made with certified organic ingredients, free from unnecessary chemicals. My perspective on balance in business is the same as in parenting. It is about long term sustainability, not short term intensity. Just like raising children, building a brand requires patience, resilience, and clear values.
Having a public role gives me the opportunity to share what I am learning, and I try to approach that with care. I feel it is important to live what I speak about and to be open about mental health, hormone shifts, loss, and growth. For me, wellness is something you embody every day.
All three roles have taught me that balance is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about priorities. My family and our health comes first. And from that foundation, everything else flows more harmoniously.
For me, wellness is not a trend or a routine. It is a way of living that integrates mind, body, and spirit.
What conversations do you think leaders in the wellness/beauty space should be having more openly?
I think there are a few conversations we could all be having more openly.
First, transparency around ingredients and standards. There is still confusion between clean and certified organic. Clean beauty is unregulated, so brands set their own standards. Certified organic follows strict third party standards, ensuring products are free from synthetic chemicals and unnecessary ingredients. We owe it to consumers to be clearer about what those words actually mean so they can make informed choices.
Second, realistic expectations. Skincare is powerful, but it is not magic. Hormones shift. Stress impacts our skin. Aging is natural and beautiful. We can talk about results while also honoring that wellness is holistic. It includes sleep, nervous system health, nutrition, and emotional wellbeing. I believe we need to speak more openly about that full picture.
Third, sustainability beyond marketing language. It is easy to use words like eco friendly or green, but real sustainability requires investment, accountability, and long term commitment. That includes supply chains, packaging, sourcing, and climate responsibility.
KORA Organics is deeply rooted in holistic wellness and certified organic standards. How did your personal wellness philosophy shape the way you built the brand?
So much of my personal wellness philosophy is infused into the DNA of KORA Organics, it’s an extension of who I am and how I live my life. My perspective on health changed when my mum was diagnosed with tumors on her spleen when I was a teenager; it prompted our family to take a much closer look at everything we were putting in and on our bodies. That experience was a profound wake-up call. It made me realize that what you put on your skin should be as safe, nourishing and intentional as what you put into your body.
I couldn’t find anything on the market that truly met those standards, and that gap is what led me to create KORA Organics. My personal philosophy is holistic, caring for the mind, body and skin as a whole, and I wanted the brand to reflect that from day one.
That’s why we commit to certified organic skincare, backed by rigorous third-party testing, not vague ‘clean’ claims that lack regulatory standards.. Certified organic ingredients can deliver up to 60% more antioxidants, and the rigorous testing and third-party certification process ensures transparency and trust.
From the start, I wanted KORA to go beyond skincare, it’s about creating a self-care ritual. That’s why we include aromatherapy blends, energise our products with crystals like Rose Quartz, and print positive affirmations on every package. These small details reflect my belief that beauty and wellness come from within and that daily moments of intention and mindfulness can make a big difference in how we feel.
You launched KORA Organics over 15 years ago, long before clean beauty became a marketing term. What did you see in the industry back then that others didn’t?
Fifteen years ago, there was very little transparency around ingredients. Words like natural were being used loosely, and there wasn’t clarity about sourcing, standards, or long term safety.
What I saw back then was a gap between what consumers thought they were buying and what they were actually getting. Clean beauty as a term did not really exist, and even now it remains unregulated, with brands setting their own standards. I believed there needed to be a higher bar. Certified organic follows strict third party standards, ensuring products are free from synthetic chemicals and unnecessary ingredients. That level of accountability felt essential to me.
I also saw that efficacy and purity did not have to be opposites. There was a perception that if something was organic, it would not deliver visible results. I felt strongly that we could create results driven formulations powered by certified organic ingredients, rich in antioxidants and nutrients, without compromising on performance.
In many ways, we were early. But I trusted that consumers were ready for more transparency, more integrity, and products they could feel good about using every day.
If someone is new to the brand, where would you suggest they start?
If someone is new to KORA Organics, I would start with our Noni Glow Face Oil and our Turmeric Brightening and Exfoliating Mask. The face oil was one of the very first products we created and it really represents the heart of the brand: certified organic ingredients, powered by Noni as a superfood for the skin, and results driven without unnecessary chemicals. It gives you that healthy, lit from within glow while deeply nourishing and supporting the skin barrier. The Turmeric Exfoliating Mask is like an instant at-home facial - you see immediate results: your skin is brighter, smoother and looks fresh and radiant.
As someone who still oversees product development and innovation, what do you think separates a good wellness brand from a great one?
Integrity and intention. A good brand can follow trends and create appealing or viral products, but a great brand is rooted in purpose and consistency. It knows who it is, what it stands for, and it doesn’t compromise those values as it grows.
Great wellness brands also invest in education and transparency. They respect their community enough to explain the why, not just the what. And they take a long-term view, prioritizing efficacy, sustainability and trust over speed or hype.
Beyond revenue, what tells you the work is actually meaningful?
It’s the messages from customers who say our products helped them feel more confident in their skin, or supported them during a difficult health or life transition. It’s hearing that someone changed the way they think about ingredients or became more mindful about their overall wellbeing.
That's why we do consumer studies, to prove the efficacy of our products. I don't want to use products on my skin just because they are healthy, they need to be results driven.
Our Plant Stem Cell Retinol Alternative Serum, gives retinol results, it lifts and softens the signs of aging without the irritation. Through our consumer studies: nearly 80% said it's more effective than conventional retinol products that they have used before; 80% said their skin feels and looks firmer and plumper; and 82% said it softens the visible signs of aging
We recently launched our Turmeric Glow Drops Niacinamide Alternative Serum which is a plant-based niacinamide alternative. I wanted to create a product that delivers the same brightening and pore-refining results as niacinamide but in a gentler, certified organic way. Our studies have shown that 92% of people noticed improved skin texture and 80% saw their pores minimized. The before & after images, which you can see on koraorganics.com, are incredible!
What habits have had the biggest impact on your health over time?
Daily meditation and prayer have been foundational for me. They help regulate my nervous system and keep me grounded. Nourishing my body with whole, organic foods, prioritizing hydration, and protecting my sleep have also made an enormous difference over time.
I also believe what you put on your skin matters just as much as what you put into your body, your skin is your largest organ. That’s why I’m committed to using certified organic skincare. I’ve been using our formulations since I began R&D in 2006, and I genuinely credit that consistency for the health and resilience of my skin today, almost two decades later.
Are there any wellness techs/tools you personally use and feel are genuinely worth looking into?
I use a few wellness tools that help me stay more attuned to my body.
I wear the Oura Ring to track my sleep, recovery and readiness — it helps me understand when I need to rest and when I can push a little more. For sleep support, I use a Somnee sleep headset and a Hatch device to gently cue my nervous system into deeper rest, especially during travel or busier periods.
I also use Weber laser devices — the helmet, watch and mat — along with a Truvega vagus nerve stimulator and occasional hyperbaric oxygen therapy. These tools support circulation, nervous system regulation and cellular recovery, which I find incredibly helpful when balancing motherhood, work and travel.
For skincare, I love using our KORA Organics Rose Quartz Facial Sculptor with our award-winning Noni Glow Face Oil. It supports lymphatic drainage, reduces puffiness and enhances circulation and it turns my routine into a calming ritual.
For me, technology should complement the foundations: sleep, nourishment, movement and mindfulness.
How do you personally define success in this phase of your life?
Success now looks like alignment. It’s feeling present with my family, fulfilled in my work, and grounded in my values. It’s having the freedom to choose quality over quantity, in my time, my relationships and my commitments.
What advice would you give to someone building a wellness brand today?
My advice to other entrepreneurs would be this: don’t be afraid to start small, but start with intention. Believe in your vision, but stay open to learning and evolving. Surround yourself with people who uplift and challenge you, and remember, success isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress.
Most importantly, take care of yourself along the way. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so make time for rest, reflection, and the little rituals that keep you grounded.
