Cymbiotika Summer School Ep. 2: Magtein®

Every 65 seconds, someone in America develops Alzheimer’s.  ¹

That’s a lot of people. As of 2024, an estimated 6.9 million Americans older than 65 suffer from the condition. According to Bright Focus Foundation’s research, “By 2050, the number of people aged 65 and older with Alzheimer's and other dementias is projected to reach nearly 13 million unless scientists develop new approaches to prevent or cure it.”  ¹

This puts a massive task on our shoulders, and the quest for effective aging and cognitive health treatments continues to evolve. In recent years, many people have turned to magnesium—but not just any magnesium. They’re turning to Magnesium L-Threonate, also known by its branded name, Magtein®.

What is Magtein®?

Magtein® is a patented form of magnesium designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and increase magnesium levels in the brain and neurons. It is a dietary supplement that combines magnesium with malic acid and supports brain health, learning, memory, focus, and mood.3 Magtein® is revolutionary because it’s the only form of magnesium capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier.

Now, why does this matter? When something crosses the blood-brain barrier, it directly affects brain tissue, exerting a potent effect compared to if it were diluted in the bloodstream and filtered out before reaching the brain.

A recent breakthrough study delved into the potential of Magtein®, the active ingredient in the compound MMFS-01, known to enhance synapse density. Synapse density refers to the quality and strength of the synapses in our brains, which contributes to our ability to process information, learn, and use our memory. This study offers new hope for older adults facing cognitive challenges.

Understanding the Study

The study, conducted as a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, focused on adults aged 50-70 experiencing cognitive impairment. For 12 weeks, participants were either administered Magtein® or a placebo. The goal was clear: to assess Magtein®'s impact on cognitive ability, sleep quality, and emotional well-being.

Promising Results

The findings were astounding. Those treated with Magtein® significantly improved overall cognitive ability compared to the placebo group (p = 0.003; Cohen's d = 0.91). Notably, participants experienced reduced cognitive fluctuation, which means their mental capabilities remained relatively the same over time rather than changing drastically, which is common with many cognitive conditions.

One of the study’s significant insights was restoring executive function, a critical cognitive domain often impaired in aging populations. Magtein® almost completely restored these functions to normal levels.  ² This is groundbreaking news.

Challenges and Future Directions

While Magtein® demonstrated promising cognitive benefits, the study faced challenges in assessing its effects on sleep and anxiety due to strong placebo responses in these areas. This underscores the need for further research to clarify Magtein®'s comprehensive impact on these interconnected aspects of health.

Conclusion

The study marks a pivotal step forward in pursuing effective treatments for cognitive impairment in older adults. Magtein® has shown considerable promise in enhancing cognitive abilities, offering hope for individuals and families navigating the complexities of cognitive decline.

As research continues to unfold, Magtein®'s potential to transform the landscape of cognitive health remains tantalizing. With ongoing exploration and refinement, this compound may continue to emerge as a beacon of hope for the future of cognitive wellness.

Not only could this powerhouse compound serve as a cognitive impairment solution for aging populations, but it could also act as a preventative measure for younger individuals. Magtein’s early prevention of oxidative stress fortifies synapse density, which means quick memory and sharp learning skills for the future.

Studies will continue to be done on the effect of Magtein® on those with learning challenges, ADHD, and other cognitive differences.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights as we unravel the mysteries of Magtein®, and in the meantime, don’t forget to secure your supply of our Magnesium L-Threonate while you’re at it.
