With the gift-giving season right around the corner, we’d love to share some of our favorite DIY low/zero-waste holiday wrapping ideas with you. With the amount of online shopping people do nowadays, we know you’ve got to have some extra boxes laying around at home that are just begging to be utilized ;)
This year, instead of spending extra money on wrapping paper, bows, decorations, and bags (which all usually have some sort of plastic in them… that the earth doesn't love!) we have created a list of things you may already have that can be repurposed for holiday gift wrapping. We love getting creative with the wrapping items we already have and seeing how they can transform with just a little bit of love & thoughtfulness.

DIY Low/Zero Waste Gift Wrapping Ideas
- Repurpose old paper/plastic grocery bags that you have in your house as wrapping paper. You can turn them inside out and/or cover any writing you don’t want visible with artwork or other decorations you may think of.
- Use your extra Cymbiotika boxes and confetti paper (or any other boxes you have around) to put more fragile or non-square items in them. We like to use the extra Cymbiotika boxes for “gift baskets” that we fill with things such as trinkets, lotions, candles, chocolate, gift cards, etc for our loved ones!
- Collect any old newspaper or magazines you have around your house & use this as wrapping paper as well. If you have kiddos- it could be a fun idea to cut shapes out of the newspaper to glue onto bigger wrapped items!
- Gather any empty or almost empty glass jars out of your cabinets, wash & dry them out, and use them to put little gifts inside. We love to make DIY bath scrubs, lotions, and treats and send them off in mason jars to our friends and family.
- Instead of gift wrapping/bows that have plastic, metallic, glitter, and synthetic materials in them, opt for more earth friendly, biodegradable materials such as cardboard, paper, cotton, hemp, twine, or jute.
- Gather fallen leaves or wild native plants that are abundant in the area you live in (sage, rosemary, lavender, etc) and use them as extra decor on your gifts!
