Amla, also known as Indian Gooseberry, is one of the most important medicinal plants in Ayurvedic medicine and has commonly been known as a potent rasayana (rejuvenator). In Ayurveda, this fruit has been found useful in stalling degenerative processes, promoting longevity, purifying the blood, enlivening the body and enhancing intellect. Amla serves as a rich source of vitamin C (more than oranges, lemons, and tangerines) and is a fruit that has been used to help treat the common cold and fever, as well as acting as a diuretic, laxative, digestive, adaptogen, anti-inflammatory, hair treatment and more.
Scientific experiments have shown that amla contains antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antidiabetic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective and wound healing properties to name a few. Some preclinical studies with both in-vitro and in-vivo systems have shown that amla contains powerful anticancer, chemopreventive, cytoprotective (cell protection) and radioprotective (protection against harmful effects of radiation) effects. Amla is currently being studied extensively for its possible use as a cancer preventative and therapeutic drug in humans.
We have sourced a very special Amla Fruit Extract Powder and have chosen to incorporate it into our Adrenal Supertonic for it’s Vitamin C levels of 18%. Vitamin C acts as a powerful immune boosting agent and is a must to maintain general wellness all year round. This formula serves as a blend of ancient ayurvedic herbs that have all been known to have overall beneficial effects on human health-- so we know we couldn’t leave amla out of this one!
