Conjugated linoleic acid, also known as CLA, is an omega-6 fatty acid that is naturally found in meats and dairy products, but we found a way to derive it from Asteraceae thistle extracts and organic sunflower oil containing phosphatidylcholine and used it for liposomes in our red yeast rice formula.
CLA is a polyunsaturated fat, which, when consumed in healthy amounts, can be beneficial for the heart. Studies have shown that CLA can reduce body fat levels, as well have beneficial effects on glycemic profile, atherosclerosis (build up of fats, cholesterol and other substances in/on artery walls which can restrict blood flow), and cancer. Along with this, supplementation with CLA has been shown to positively influence immune function, help re-synthesize glycogen (polysaccharide of glucose that serves as energy storage), and increase bone mineralization.
