Aloe Vera is a succulent plant species that originates from the Arabian Peninsula, but also grows wild in topical, semi-tropical, and arid climates around the world. It has been used for agricultural and medicinal purposes, and has also been found in many products such as beverages, lotions, cosmetics, and ointments. The gel of aloe vera contains many vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants, and is most commonly known for its antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic properties.
In a mouth rinse study of 300 healthy people, researchers compared 100% pure aloe vera juice with a standard mouthwash ingredient called chlorhexidine. After 4 days of using the aloe vera, the rinse appeared to be just as effective as chlorhexidine at reducing dental plaque-- and with this being said, aloe vera has been found effective in killing the bacterium Streptococcus mutans in the mouth, as well as the yeast Candida albicans.
Along with this, aloe vera may also help treat constipation due to a key laxative compound it contains called barabloin, which counters the high iron content from the guava leaf extract we have in our Adrenal Super Tonic.
When ingested, aloe vera has been shown to increase collagen production and improve skin elasticity. It can also help the skin retain moisture, thus making it a powerful aid for skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
